Online Systems Update:
Changes may impact your online access to: Online Banking; Cash Management; and Credit Card Online Account Manager.

Bank of Travelers Rest is enabling a security protocol that may impact your access to Online Banking, Cash Management and Credit Card Online Account Manager.  This protocol is known as TLS 1.2.  TLS is short for Transport Layer Security, a protocol that ensures that a connection to a remote endpoint is securely encrypted in order to provide privacy and data integrity.

What does the TLS 1.2 upgrade mean for me as your customer?

First and foremost, it means that Bank of Travelers Rest is enabling the proper tools to keep the connection secured properly between you and your online account access.  As technology progresses, we are committed to the security of the channels through which you access your accounts in the online and wireless environment.

If you have the most up-to-date version of your web browser, the TLS security is in place and will not impact access to your Bank of Travelers Rest account(s).  However, if you are using previous versions of your web browser, you can simply follow a few steps (which are listed below) to enable the proper security.  These steps will help to ensure your online access is restored; but more importantly, secure.

What browser(s)/version(s) will provide the option for this TLS 1.2 upgrade?

If your version of the browser you prefer is not one listed below, then you will need to download the most recent version online.  Typically, there is no charge for downloading a web browser. But if you have one of the versions of the browsers listed below, you should have the correct technology available to enable.  These browser versions will support the option to use TLS, regardless of your operating system.

  • Internet Explorer 9, 10 & 11
  • Chrome 41, 42 & 43
  • Firefox 36, 37 & 38
  • Opera 27, 28 & 29
  • Safari 7 & 8

How do I enable the security of my web browser?

Using Safari:

There are no options for enabling SSL protocols. If you are using Safari version 7 or greater, TLS 1.1 & 1.2 are automatically enabled.

  1. Open FireFox
  2. Type in “about:config” in the URL bar and press Enter
  3. Scroll down to “security.tls.version.max” and press enter.
  4. Set the value to 3.
  5. Then, click "OK".

  1. Open Opera
  2. Click Ctrl+F12
  3. Click on “Security”
  4. Click on “Security Protocols”.
  5. Check on “Enable TLS 1.1 & TLS 1.2”.
  6. Press the "OK" button.
  7. Then click "OK".

What if I have made these steps and I am still unable to access my Bank of Travelers Rest account(s) online?

If you have followed these steps and find you are unable to access your
account(s), it may require downloading your preferred browser again.
